Oprah says: "Step out of your Box"

Believe it or not, Oprah Winfrey challenged a group of 40-something women to give skinny-dipping a try as part of a "step out of the box" episode. You can read more details on Oprah's site here.

Yep, stepping into the unknown or doing something you've not ever done can bring a unique sense of "life" back into you. Here is a question for you: "When was the LAST time you did something for the FIRST time?" It really is a good question.

We get comfortable in our life and we slowly drop into a stagnant state. Then before we know it we settle into a predictable routine and then one day we bottom out... "Is this all there is?" we ask ourselves.

Oprah's challenge is a good one. Here at Living Waters Spa we see people from all walks of life, all backgrounds, various ages and ethnicity come and try a "social nude" setting for the first time. Guess what happens? A revitalization of life - I'm not kidding. Doing things for the first time - things that reveal your inner self - have a way of waking up our sleepy (lethargic even) souls. To feel the warm sun ALL OVER your body, to step out of a pool and not have a clingy bathing suit to remind you of your perceived imperfections, to feel the air brush across your being... well, you've just got to "step out of your box" and give it a try.

Living Waters Spa is a safe place. We really are! We are a place for personal retreat not party. Couples and singles find a true "oasis" here at LWS. Palm Springs has a number of clothing optional or nudist hotel resorts but we are the only one whose emphasis is on "spa." Our mineral water pools (fed from mother earth) are the ONLY clothing optional mineral water pools in Southern California. If you are wanting to step out of your clothes, in a social setting, for the first time, we are the place.

A "normal" woman in Glamour! Body Acceptance

Model Lizzi Miller created a stir in the fashion world after she appeared nude except for a thong in the September issue of Glamour magazine. Glamour--and other women's fashion magazines--typically feature thin, unrealistically-shaped supermodels. But Miller, at 180 lbs., posed nude for the issue, complete with "stomach pooch." Readers immediately began flooding Glamour with positive responses for showing a "typical" American woman. Web sites such as Facebook, MSN and Jezebel.com joined the discussion. Glamour editor Cindi Leive told Matt Lauer on the Today show,"It's a sign of the times that women are really looking for a little bit more authenticity and little bit less artifice in every part of their lives."

The article goes on and says: "“Immediately, within hours of the magazine coming out, we had people telling us they were e-mailing it to friends, and that it was the first time they felt good about their own bodies, looking at this picture,” Leive told Lauer.

One reader wrote to Glamour saying, “Get this hot momma off of page 194 and put her on the cover!”Another reader said, “Thank you for showing a picture of a BEAUTIFUL woman who has a stomach and thighs that look like mine! I have NEVER seen that in a magazine before.”

Yet another said, “This woman rocks and we need more women like her to make a mark on what the real woman looks like.” Glamour editor Cindi Leive said positive reaction to the photo of Lizzi Miller may change the magazine’s approach. Miller admitted the reader responses brought tears to her eyes. The sun-kissed California girl spreads her weight over a tall, 5-foot-11 frame, and while her varying size 12 to 14 body is in keeping with the average American woman’s, she competes in a modeling industry in which any size over 6 is considered “plus size.” To read the whole article follow this link.

The concept of body image and self acceptance is one of our core values at Living Waters Spa. Each week women and men come to our clothing optional spa (you don't have to be a "nudist") and experience the freedom of clothes-free vacationing. You see all, and realize that our society has truly warped our sense of body acceptance.

Living Water Spa is a safe environment where you can luxuriate in our pure mineral water pools, experience our magical massage - even a couples massage - and enjoy the elements in the "alltogether." We are not a party place. We are not a swingers / public sex club. We are the REAL deal, a true spa in every sense of the word. Come and be "in your skin" for a day, a week or more... Read more here. By the way, on our website we have pictures of REAL people, not models as found on other websites.

We are located in the Palm Springs area city of Desert Hot Springs - California's Spa City! We have wonderful sunshine 340 days a year!!!

AMA and Obamacare

The American Medical Association Has Weighed in on the New Obama Health Care Proposals:

The Allergists voted to scratch it, but the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves.

The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it, but the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve.

The Obstetricians felt they were all laboring under a misconception.

Ophthalmologists considered the idea shortsighted.

Pathologists yelled, "Over my dead body!" while the Pediatricians said, "Oh, Grow up!"

The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, while the Radiologists could see right through it.

Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing.

The Internists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow, and the Plastic Surgeons said, "This puts a whole new face on the matter."

The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists were pissed off at the whole idea.

The Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas, and the Cardiologists didn't have the heart to say no.

In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to the assholes in Washington!

Here at Living Waters Spa, we ponder many serious questions - grin!

Skinny-dipping into History!

This Past Saturday Living Waters Spa in Desert Hot Springs joined 136 other clothing-optional / nudist resorts around the country in setting the record for the most people skinny-dipping at one time. This was sponsored by AANR - the American Association for Nude Recreation.

We had 29 people participate here at Living Waters Spa. We gave everybody a LWS hat and got in the pool at 12:00. We had two witnesses from our city - Mayor Pro Tem Karl Baker and Councilwoman Jan Pye. (I wonder how many other places had elected officials as witnesses?)

Each week we have 1st timers to a clothing optional experience and this skinny-dip record was no exception. The guests who had never had a social nude experience jumped right in and actually said: "our first experience is helping set a record!" They came back later this week and spent the night and got our famous LWS signature massage.

If you've ever thought about skinny-dipping, we'd love to invite you to our spa. We are a QUIET place - Spa means SSssspppaaa....ah. You can float in our pure mineral water pools, enjoy our therapeutic afternoon breezes (which is awesome in these summer months - we are 5-10 degrees cooler than the heart of Palm Springs), have one of the Top 5 massages you'll ever get, and just be "in your skin."

Give us a call: 760-329-9988... You can do it, you've thought about doing it, you CAN do it!

Here is a question for you:

"When was the last time you did something for the FIRST time?"

Come and join others in jumping in without a silly bathing "costume." You will not want to wear one again.

Living Waters Spa to participate in the AANR World Record Skinny-dip on 7/11

This Saturday, 7/11/09, Living Waters Spa is joining forces with the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) as they attempt to set a world record for the most people skinny-dipping at one time. Come for the day or spend the night(s) and join us as we join forces with AANR to set a world record.

In honor of this special event, Living Waters Spa will be giving away one of our LWS hats ($13 value) to all those participating. PLUS we will be waving day use fees ($45) for those who come for the day to do the Skinny-dip and get a massage! So you can participate in the official Skinny-dip, get a free hat, and one of our magical massages for only $99 or a couples massage for only $198. If you decide to spend the night we have some rooms for only $149 per night or $249 for two nights. These specials are in honor of this fun record breaking event.

Here are the details: at 12:00 noon all those in either of our two pools will be counted and the official count sent to AANR who will submit their totals from resorts across the country to Guinness World Records Company. All participants must register with Living Waters Spa, sign appropriate waivers and agree to participate by skinny-dipping totally nude. Participants shall complete an AANR APPROVED REGISTRATION FORM prior to the allotted time for the event. This form gives AANR and Living Waters Spa the right to use your participation in the count for the record. Additionally, a photo will be taken (you can turn around and face away from the camera or put your hat over your face if you are shy) and we will have two witnesses to verify that all who signed were in the pool nude at the appropriate time. I’m hoping to get two of our city leaders to serve as witnesses!

So, come for the day or spend the night(s) and join us as we join forces with AANR to set a world record. You don't have to be a nudist or naturist to participate!!

Space is limited as are rooms so call now to reserve you place in this fun historic event! 760-329-9988

Self-discovery and Personal Growth at Living Waters Spa

Ever feel like you need to do something new? Something truly exotic, wild and transformative?

Think you need to go breathless on one of the world’s greatest mountain peaks, jump out of a plane or go deep-sea diving with sharks? That takes an awful lot of energy, right? It takes a ton of cash and, hey, it’s actually pretty cliché. You haven’t done it, maybe, but you know someone who has.

Really, to have a transformative experience, all you need is a couple bucks and the energy it takes to lounge on a pool chair. So where’s the thrill, the breakout performance, the life alteration? Well, you might find your heart in your throat when, for the first time in your adult life, you’re lying poolside buck naked. Walking around a spa without a stitch of clothing, chatting with other guests in their birthday suits. Letting it all hang out.

Think you have the guts for a vacation like this?

Ask yourself if you are prepared for self-discovery and personal growth, and if the truthful answer is yes, then know that Living Waters Spa is an amazing venue for your adventure into yourself.

First, Living Waters is clothing-optional. That means you can ease into your nakedness, and no one will judge you one way or the other.

When you do expose yourself, it will be to the sun-kissed desert sky, the mountain air, and pools of natural hot mineral water. When you strip away your protective barrier and open up, literally and figuratively, a new you can emerge. You can gain clarity, insight and understanding. Practice self-love and reverence. You can become patient with yourself. Gain confidence. Who knows what can happen when you allow yourself to be as you truly are?

Plan the details of your own retreat, or allow Living Waters to support you with bodywork and life coaching. Your stay at the spa can be as hands-on or hands-off, as public or private as you’d like, but it will always be in a safe environment of acceptance and care.

In the resort’s peaceful rooms, you won’t find a TV to distract you or help you procrastinate, just a custom king-size bed to envelop you in fine linens and extra-large feather pillows. You can request a full kitchen, grill poolside or blend up a juice fast.

At 100 degrees, the therapy pool is perfect for long soaking. Living Waters Spa pumps 20 gallons a minute from an underground lake. This mineral-dense, odor-free elixir is a natural phenomenon that attracted Native Americans to this area hundreds of years ago and today draws health-conscious visitors from all over the world.

Stretch out in the spa’s larger mineral-water pool. You can swim laps or float on a noodle; it really doesn’t matter. Many guests enjoy the contrast of rotating between these two pools and Living Waters’ Finnish-style dry sauna. Massage is a powerful means of body awareness. Allow a Living Waters therapist to guide you on a journey that safely detangles your muscular system, smoothes frayed nerve endings, revs up circulation and lymphatic flow, focuses you on your breath and your heart and your own healing powers, quiets your mind and ultimately catapults you into bliss.

Think you need a snazzy souvenir of your vacation, a lion’s head from your safari or photo atop Mt. Everest? How about a revived, restored, rejuvenated new you – without bikini lines?

About the spa: Living Waters Spa’s nine guest rooms and massage studios retain their Mid-Century Modern spa-tel character. The spa’s two pools are fed directly from a hot-water aquifer; the spa pumps 20 gallons a minute, 18 hours a day, from its own well. Living Waters offers massage and spa treatments; a dry sauna; breakfast and afternoon hors‘d oeuvres. Living Waters Spa Condos, six luxury units, are directly across the street from the spa. Contact us to explore the mystery of YOU!
